Description
The VT-2000-3 Single Mode Optical Loss Test Set is a
very flexible and versatile unit which has been
designed for convenient field measurements of the
path loss and optical power at 1310 nm, 1550 nm and
1625 nm. The VT-2000-3 has built-in calibrated optical
sources at 1310 nm, 1550 nm and 1625 nm and a
highly sensitive calibrated power meter. The easy-to
use controls can be operated in the automatic or
manual mode. When operating in the automatic
mode, the path loss at all wavelengths is measured
and simultaneously displayed in dB on the front panel
display. In the manual mode the VT-2000-3 operates
as a standalone power meter and optical source and
there are a host of options to allow maximum flexibility
in making or sourcing measurements. By
automatically setting the output power at the end of
the output jumper to a known level each VT-2000-3
may be zeroed to itself without any requirement to
bring the two sets making the measurement together.
All of the functions of the VT-2000-3 are available for
remote access via the rear panel RS-232 connector.
This connection supports a direct connection to a PC
or a modem for dial-up access. The VT-2000-3 is a
portable unit that can be powered from an AC source
as well as internal batteries. A protective carrying case
with accessory pockets is also included. The VT-
2000-3 is easy-to-learn and use for the novice fiber
optic technician, but offers all the features required for
more detailed testing.
